To mitigate the environmental and public health impacts of plastic pollution, the Nordness Lab develops recycling and upcycling strategies for plastic waste using deep eutectic solvent catalysts. These catalysts offer several advantages, including low cost, high thermal and electrochemical stability, and low volatility. Current efforts focus on understanding how different deep eutectic solvents influence plastic depolymerization, generating insights towards a sustainable and commercially viable recycling process.
